Cord grips on a lamp are a very important part of the installation, as they are used to stop any pulling of the flex causing the wires to come out of the lampholder connections. You need to imagine holding the lamp up by the wire and ensuring there is no strain on the connections.
Cord grips can be used in many different ways and sometimes not always the way they may of been made for.

Wooden Base
Generally if you have a block of wood and a cable is running along it i.e a standard table lamp the cables comes out the bottom then runs along the base that have feet then this cord grip would work the best:Â https://www.lampspares.co.uk/flex-cord-grip-for-round-and-flat-flex
This style of cord grip could also be used on a piece of metal if you have self tapping screws or if you can drill small pilot holes for the screws then this can be used.
This would not be found on a ceramic or glass item as you cant use any screws to hold it into position

Ceramic / Glass Lamp
3 Core Version:
This figure of 8 is the perfect cord grip however it can a couple of attempts to get it in the correct position, as this needs to sit right behind the hole the cable exits the lamp. As seen below.
2 Core Version:
The 2 core version is the exact same as the 3 core in terms of positioning and usage the physical item is slightly different as it will only fit a 2 core flat cable.
Pendant Style
Generic Types
Cord grips with male and female 10mm / 1/2″ threads on are more generic the most popular use for the male version is to screw into the base of a lampholder allowing it to be hung from a cable.
These styles can also be use on a sheet of metal for example where you can put a nut on the other side to hold it to position, or you can glue them into position like into a back of a piece of wood for example.
The female style threads only really fit on the end of a threaded rod.
Â
Side Entry
These cord grips are a 2 in 1 style cord grip as not only do they grip the cable they also allow you to use them if you cannot bring the cable up the middle of the light fitting, like a bottle for example, if you cannot drill the glass then you need to bring the cable in below the lampholder externally.
These are perfect for that job, they screw down onto a fixing point like a backplate or rubber bung then a lampholder will simply screw on top creating a side entry position for the cable.
We offer a range of different colours.
Â
Ceiling / Wall Grips
We have a couple of Italian made ceiling and wall clips and grips, perfect for altering or routing a cable’s path along a ceiling or wall.
Walls and ceiling clips, perfect for running cables along a wall or a ceiling.

Â
V Shaped Ceiling Hooks, perfect for creating loops from a ceiling rose to a lampholder for example.

Â
This one is our most popular version, the design of this is to allow you to bring a cable out from a ceiling rose attach it to the ceiling then drop straight down for a lampholder.
Also known as a decentralizer it will also help you to move a light over the centre of a table without having to move the complete rose.
