10mm Entry

10mm Entry lampholders are the more popular entry lampholder to fit on any 10mm fixing point, the lampholder as it comes should not be used for a hanging light fitting.

However, you can add a 10mm cord grip to enable you to hang this from a cable.

 

1/2" Entry

This lampholder entry is the same as the 10mm, but this has the 1/2" 24tpi entry thread, you will find these generally in older style light fittings.

Again the same applies, you cannot use this when hanging from a cable unless a cord grip is being used.

 

20mm Entry

The 20mm lampholders are designed to be used with 20mm electrical conduit systems and will screw directly onto a threaded piece of galvanised conduit pipe.

This Quick guide will show you how to install our lampholder cup and cord grip.

Step 1

Screw the supplied all threaded rod into the lampholder followed by the nut and shake proof washer.

 

Step 2

Slide the cord grip up the cable followed by the lampholder cover.

 

Step 3

Then slide the lampholder cap with the all threaded rod, nut and washer on up the cable.

 

Step 4

Wire the lampholder and screw the skirt of the lampholder onto the cap then slide the copper cover over the lampholder so the threaded rod is sticking out the top.

 

Step 5

Finally slide the cord grip back down the cable and screw it onto the threaded rod, tighten up the small grub screw on the cord grip, This will now finish off the installation.

This guide is to show you on how to install our metal E27 lampholders.

  • Top Section (Skirt)
  • Bottom Section (Cap)
  • Connection Unit (Insert)

Please see this picture that explains the terminology of the 3 parts of the lampholder.

Step 1

Take the bottom section of the lampholder and screw it onto the fixing point.

 

Step 2

Push the cable through the light fitting and connect the insert as shown below.

 

Step 3

Once you have connected the insert you will need to push the insert into the base of the lampholder.

Please Note: See the earth tag is inline with the indent of the lampholder cap, it will be tight to push down but this ensures a good earth connection between the insert and cap.

 

Step 4

 Here is the final position of the insert within the cap.

 

Step 5

Finally you can then screw the skirt section onto the cap take note of the clicking noise as you screw the skirt on, this is the locking barb locking the lampholder together.

This is a quick guide on how to connect our E27 switched lampholders.

Step 1

Screw the base section of the lampholder onto your fixing point on the light fitting and tighten the small grub screw pointing down inside the thread. This will lock the lampholder base onto your light fitting.

 

Step 2

Connect the earth cable (if applicable) to the earthing point in the base of the base section as seen here.

 

Step 3

Take the center switch connection unit and connect the brown and blue wires like in the image below.

 

Step 4

Once connected push the switched connection unit down until it stops put even pressure on switch and center unit to ensure you don't bend and parts.

 

Step 5

Screw the skirt on top to finish off installation.

This is a quick guide on how to connect our E27 pull cord lampholder.

Step 1

Screw the base section of the lampholder onto your fixing point on the light fitting and tighten the small grub screw pointing down inside the thread. This will lock the lampholder base onto your light fitting.

Step 2

Wire the connection unit as show in the image above taking note of the location of the Neutral (Blue) and the Live (Brown) Wires.

Please Note: There is no location for an earth cable in this lampholder.

 

Step 3

Once fully connected gently push the connection unit back into the base of the lampholder, ensuring the pull cord does not get caught or snagged on anything inside as this will hinder the operation of the pull cord.

 

Step 4

Once the connection unit is sitting in the base of the lampholder hold the connection unit and pull the pull cord a couple of times to ensure the cord is not snagged or caught inside the base.

 

Step 5

Screw the skirt on top to finish off installation.

This guide is to show you how to install our push fit lampholders in the E27 and E14 ranges.

Before you start you need to ensure that the stripped ends of your cables are solid.

This can be done by using ferrules or to solder the ends, this ensures that when you push the cables into the lampholder they will not bend or move around.

If you have a solid cable then the barb on the inside will grip it ensuring a safe and solid connection between the cable and lampholder.

The following components were used in this guide:

Step 1

Thread the cable through your light fitting so it is sticking out the top.

 

Step 2

Take the bottom section of the lampholder and thread it onto the threaded rod, then tighten the small screw inside to lock it to the threaded rod.

 

Step 3

Take the main body of the lampholder and push the wires into the holes on the rear of the lampholder, as shown in the image below.

Please note that the Live (Brown) and Neutral (Blue) go in opposite ends from each other.

There are 2 holes next to each other it does not matter what hole you use, just means you could have 2x Blue and 2x Brown cables, however we do not recommend this as a standard installation.

The cables will push in, and you will hear/feel a slight click, give the cable a gentle pull back to ensure it's secured into the lampholder.

If you need to remove the cable jump to step 5

 

 

Ensure the brown (live) is pushed into the centre pinhole, to find this out please see the following video.

Step 4

After inserting and fixing the cables you can now click the top section into the base section.

This will only go around one way it should make sense what way this goes.

Ensuring the cables are tucked out the way as you dont want to catch them when pushing 2 parts together.

Tip: If for some reason you cannot click the top section into the base section ensure the small grub screw in the base section is fully tightened down.

This now finishes the installation of the lampholder.

Below you will find the steps required to undo the lampholder if you have found an issue.

Need to undo the lampholder?

Step 1

If you need to separate the lampholder then you will need 2x screwdrivers or something similar.

You will need to insert one screwdriver into the slot as seen below holding that into position then insert the 2nd screwdriver pushing both screwdrivers together then lifting the top part of lampholder will separate them.

Please be careful not to be too rough as you can snap the 2x clips.

Step 2

After removing the top section you can also remove the cables if needed, this can be a little tricky and will require a paperclip or something similar.

The idea is that you will need to insert the paperclip in as you are gently pulling on the cable, wiggle the paperclip around and the can should simply pop out.

On some occasions you can pull the ferrule off the end of the cable, this isn't an issue as such as all you need to do is re install a new ferrule and insert cable into spares hole.

This guide is to help you with the installation of the plastic E27 lampholders, some lampholders may vary slightly but the principle is the same.

Items used in this guide:

 

  • Base (Cap)
  • Skirt
  • Connection Unit

When you open your order up you may find that we have screwed the base and the skirt together, leaving the connection unit resting on top in a small bag.

If you have ordered several, then we may bag each item up separately.

The lampholders consist of 3 items:

Step 1

Once the components are separated, take the cap and screw it onto the 10mm fixing base that you have.

This can be several different styles, from backplates (as shown here) or a cord grip if you are hanging the light fitting, to a standard 10mm threaded rod.

The concept is the same between all the fixing methods.

Note: If you have purchased the metal thread there will be an earth block inside the cap, along with a small screw, that screw once tightened up will lock the lampholder into position.

Step 2

Connect the lampholder as show in the instructions received with the order.

If not, please see the picture to the right on how to wire the connection unit.

The connection unit is labelled With L and N.

  • L = Live (Brown Wire)
  • N = Neutral (Blue Wire)

If you have a 3 core cable and a metal threaded cap then the earth block is located inside the cap.

This is where the earth (green/yellow) wire will need to be connected.

Step 3

Once you have wired the connection unit carefully sit the connection unit back into the cap of the lampholder, this will only go one way so you may need to rotate the connection unit until it falls into its locating slots.

Step 4

Finally screw the skirt on top to complete the installation.

All ES & SES lampholders have a locking device to stop them coming apart when you take a bulb out.

Below is an image showing our inserts and what to do with the barb to release the lampholder, note some press down and others bend inwards.

With the ones you bend inwards you will need to ensure you bend the barb back before locking the lampholder again.

 

With all the locking devices you need to use a small screwdriver to depress or bend the barb whilst holding the base and turning the skirt or body of the lampholder anticlockwise.

Ensure the lampholder is not connected to the electricity.

This is a quick guide to show you how to install the Arditi Edison Screw ES | E27 Metal Lampholders.

 

Step 1

Ensure the cable is sticking out the top as required. 

 

  • Cap
  • Skirt
  • Insert (Connection Unit)
  • Shade Ring

Separate the lampholder into it’s 4 key components.

Please see below the breakdown of the lampholder.

Step 2

Take the Cap (1) of the lampholder, slide it over the cable and screw it onto the fixing point. 

 

Step 3

Once the cap of the lampholder is securely screwed into place, tighten the locking screw on the inside of the cap using a suitable screwdriver - this locks the lampholder onto the fixing point, preventing it from being accidently loosened or unscrewed when replacing the light bulb.

 

Step 4

Take the ceramic connection unit and wire the cable in, as shown below.

Warning

If in any doubt, please seek professional advice.

Step 5

Once wired, push the ceramic connection unit into the bottom section of the lampholder.
Note how far down the connection unit goes - so it's flush around the edge.
Then place the skirt on top, making sure everything is aligned in order for the lampholder to screw together correctly, see image below.

Step 6

Take the skirt section of the lampholder and screw it onto the bottom part, note the clicking sound when tightening up - this is the locking device. More information can be found below this article regarding the locking device.

Step 7

Take one of the 2 shade rings and screw in onto the skirt. Then take your shade and clamp it into place by placing it between the first shade ring and then by screwing the second shade ring on top.
