This is a quick installation guide on how to install our E14 plastic lampholder with L bracket.

  • Cap (Bottom Section)
  • Skirt (Top Section)
  • Insert (Connection Unit)
  • Cord Grip
  • L Bracket

  • Shade Rings

Below are the piece parts of this assembly.

Step 1

Install the L bracket to your wall or item.

We have not fixed it in the image as this is for reference only.

Step 2

Separate the lampholder and take the cap (bottom section) and the cord grip.

Step 3

Place the bracket over the male thread of the cord grip and then screw the cord grip into the cap of the lampholder.

Note the bracket can be installed either way around, with the bracket as shown in the image or the bracket pointing the other way.

Step 4

Once you have successfully wired the lampholder tighten the grub screw up on the cord grip to prevent the cable from being pulled out.

This is to show you a step by step guide on how to install Kit 1.

In this guide I have used all parts that you get from Kit 1 and installing them onto a wooden block that I have already pre-drilled a hole in.

Step 1

Feed the cable cord set through your light fitting ensuring not to damage it as you push/pull it through. Ensure you leave this loose so you can adjust the length when on step 3.

Next, place the backplate over the cable and fix it down onto your wooden lamp using the supplied screws, then place the cover over the top.

Step 2

Separate the lampholder into its 3 pieces by unscrewing the shade ring and lock ring, leaving you with the cap, the connection unit and the skirt.

Then take the cap of the lampholder and screw it onto the thread of the backplate.

  • Cap (Bottoms Section)
  • Connection Unit
  • Skirt (Top Section)
  • Lock Ring
  • Shade Ring

Separate the lampholder into the following parts:

Step 3

Using a pair of pliers, double over the ends of the cable.

Next, wire the cable into the connection unit of the lampholder. This is done by firstly loosening the screws in the connection unit, then inserting the cable ends into the connection points, ensuring the Earth (Green/Yellow) is in the middle connection.

It does not matter which way around the Live (Brown) and Neutral (Blue) go. Lastly, retighten the screws, so the cable is securely in place, as shown in the image below.

Step 4

Carefully push the connection unit into the cap of the lampholder and place the top section (the skirt) onto the lampholder, ensuring the indents line up.

Finally, screw the lock ring and shade ring onto the lampholder.

Note: The copper tag is to sit over the indent on the lampholder so it is slightly visible.

This Guide is to help you in installing our Kit 8 for wooden bases.

Step 1

Drill a 9.5 - 10mm hole into the wood.

Step 2

Screw the wood nipple into the bottom of the lampholder, Please ensure the silver screw inside lampholder is unscrewed so the nipple can thread right into the lampholder. Then tighten the silver screw in the bottom of the lampholder this will lock the nipple to the lampholder.

Step 3

Screw the complete lampholder unit into the hole drilled in step 1.

Step 4

Wire the lampholder so the un wired end is sticking out the base of the lampholder and wire the earth as shown in image.

Warning

If in any doubt, please seek professional advice.

Step 5

Wire the porcelain insert, Please note it does not matter what way around the Live (Brown) and Neutral (Blue) connect.

Step 6

Once connected screw the top section of the lampholder onto the base, Ensuring the alignment is correct by aligning the indents on the base - Insert - Top section (Alignment info can be found at bottom of this guide)

Step 7

The final step is to install the cord grip, this is key to stop the cable from being pulled out of the light fitting by accident.

This cord grip may not be suitable for every installation, if you have a flat base and the cable comes out the bottom then this will work as per the image below.

If you have a hole in the side for example then you would need a 10mm cord grip with male thread sold separately.

This step by step guide will aid you with the installation of our Kit11.

Step 1

Separate the cord grip and slide the top section onto the cable as shown below.

Step 2

Separate the lampholder and insert the bottom section of the cord grip onto the bottom section of the lampholder.

Step 3

Slide the unit onto the cable as seen below.

Step 4

Take the lampholder connection unit and wire in the cable.

Step 5

After connecting the cable push the connection unit into the base of the lampholder.

Step 6

Slide the top part of the cord grip onto the lampholder assembly and tighten up as much as possible using your fingers, Tip: We use an old vacuum cleaner belt to help grip the plastic, or a large elastic band.

Step 7

Take the skirt of the lampholder and screw it onto the base section of the lampholder, note the clicking noise as you screw it on, that is the locking bard engaging more information on the locking bard at the bottom of this help file.

Step 8

This now completes the kit installation from here you can now install the complete assembly onto your light fitting example below using the shade ring.

This is to show you a step by step guide on how to install Kit 12.

With Kit12, you do need to have access inside the vase/item from the bottom.

Step 1

Take the all threaded tube and push the clear grommet into one end.

Then take the plastic washer and slide it onto the rod from the same end as the tube grommet has been inserted, followed by a metal washer then a nut.

Step 2

Push the above assembly up through the hole in your vase/item so it is sticking out the top of the vase/item.

Ensure to keep hold of it once sticking out the top as you don't want it to fall down, alternatively, if you can lay the vase/item on its side this may help.

Step 3

Once the assembly is sticking out the top take the second metal washer and slide it onto the rod followed by the second steel nut.

Step 4

Before you tighten the assembly up ensure you have the correct length of thread sticking out the top:

  • For the 38mm kit leave 50mm of thread sticking out the top of the lamp base.
  • For the 75mm Kit leave 87mm of thread sticking out the top of the lamp base.

Step 5

Once you have the correct amount of thread sticking out the top you can tighten up the nuts, in most cases you can get away with holding the nut from the inside whilst you get a spanner on the nut on top.

Step 6

After the assembly is nice and tight you can slide the nut cover over the top followed by the tube cover.

Step 7

The next step is to insert the cable, grab the black grommet supplied and insert this into the 10mm hole drilled into the vase/item.

Please note that you may not be able to use this part, if not then ensure the hole is smooth and has no sharps bits.

Step 8

Take the cable and push it into the 10mm hole and out the bottom of the vase, then take the cord grip and feed the cable through one hole and then back through the other as seen below.

Ensuring that there is enough cable to come out the top of the assembly and ensuring the cord grip is touching the inside of the 10mm hole, you may need to re run this process to extend or shorten the position of the cord grip.

Step 9

Once this has been done, you can now take the cable and push up through the assembly.

Take the lampholder and separate it into its 3 components, then take the bottom part and screw it onto the top of the assembly, carefully feeding the cable through it.

Note: There is a locking screw on the lampholder, this may need to be loosened off prior to screwing onto the main thread.

Once it's been screwed on, you must tighten this back up, this will lock the lampholder onto the main thread.

Step 10

Wire the connection unit and earth block as shown below.

It does not matter which way around the live (Brown) and neutral (Blue) go, as long as the earth goes into the block.

Step 11

Once the connection unit had been connected up as shown above you can then carefully push the connection unit inside the base of the lampholder ensuring the notches align up as shown below.

Step 12

Once the connection unit is inside the base you can then take the skirt and again ensuring the notches align place it over the top of the ceramic unit and tighten up the lock ring.

This is a guide to help you install our Wooden Lampholder Kit With Wood Nipple, and I am using some prop parts which already have a hole and the backplate fixed to a piece of wood.

Depending on if you already have an existing installation, or you’re installing from scratch, this guide may change slightly.

The first step is to replace your existing cable with the new one supplied with the kit, this should be as simple as pulling the old wire out and feeding the new wire in from the bottom of the lamp.

In some cases you may need to attach the new wire to the old wire to pull it through the light is there are any sharp bends etc… hopefully not and it’s nice and simple.

Step 1

Once this is done, you will need to install the wood nipple, ensuring the 10mm fine thread is sticking out the top of the wood.

We recommend in testing the size of hole required first, as some woods will require different size holes, but generally an 8.5mm will be fine.

Step 2

Feed the cable cord set through your light fitting ensuring not to damage it as you push/pull it through.

This is a guide to help you install our Wooden Lampholder Kit With Backplate, and I am using some prop parts which already have a hole and the backplate fixed to a piece of wood.

Depending on if you already have an existing installation or you’re installing from scratch, this guide may change slightly.

The first step is to replace your existing cable with the new one supplied with the kit, this should be as simple as pulling the old wire out and feeding the new wire in from the bottom of the lamp.

In some cases you may need to attach the new wire to the old wire to pull it through the light is there are any sharp bends etc… hopefully not and it’s nice and simple.

Step 1

Once this is done you will either need to screw down the backplate using the 3 screws provided or if you already have a 10mm thread then you should be able to use this.

Step 2

Once the backplate is fixed down you can place the cover over the top to hide the screws.

Step 3

Unscrew the lampholder into the 2 sections this will be the bottom piece that screws onto the backplate and the top piece that has the connection unit in.

Step 4

Inside the bottom section you will find a circular cord grip, this will need to be slid down the cable as shown below, note that the teeth are pointing downwards.

Step 5

Once the cord grip is installed you will need to take the connection unit and connect the wires to it, Not: it does not matter which way around the wires go.

Step 6

Once connected to the connection unit, you will need to put a self made twist into the cable, this is because you twist the top section onto the bottom section to complete the lampholder.

The problem is if you take what you have and twist it in it will twist the wires up inside, so you will need to make a purpose made twist in the opposite direction.

This will then untwist and should finish fairly twist free once you have screwed the lampholder together.

This now completes the installation of the kit.

This is to show you a step by step guide on how to install Kit 35.

In this guide, I have used all parts that you get from Kit 35 and installing them onto a Jack Daniel’s bottle that I have already pre-drilled a hole in.

Please see below a video on how to drill a bottle.

Step 1

Take your drilled bottle and insert the grommet, please ensure to take care and not to apply too much force, especially with Jack Daniel's bottles as they will crack.

A little tip is to place the grommet into hot water to soften it up, then quickly put it into the bottle.

Note: Thick bottles such as this one may require some glue to hold the grommet into position.

Step 2

Once the grommet is installed take the cable and push it through the grommet and up out the top, ensuring you see a bit of outer PVC and the stripped ends are poking out the top.

Grab a pen or a screwdriver and scratch or mark where the cable enters the grommet. (where my thumb is on left hand picture)

Then pull the cable out the top until you get to your marked area of the cable.

Step 3

Take the cord grip and push the cable through one of the holes until the grip reaches the mark in the cable. Hold the grip with one hand and feed the end of the cable back through the second hole, ensuring the cord grip is at the marked piece of cable.

Once this is done you can pull the cable back, so the cord grip stops and sits inside the bottle behind the grommet as shown in last image.

Note: sometimes you may need to pull the cable back up out the top and adjust the cord grip if you feel there is too much slack or not enough slack.

You want to be able to see a little bit of the outer PVC of the cable sticking out the top of the bottle.

Step 4

Grab the rubber bung and a 13mm spanner, hold the bung in one hand and tighten the top nut until the bung fits tight into the bottle.

  • Too tight and it will not push down
  • Too loose and you may struggle on the next step.

Step 5

Once the bung is in the bottle hold the washer with your thumb and tighten the top nut until you get a nice tight fixing on to the bottle.

Step 6

Take the nut cover and place it over the bung to hide the brass parts of the bung.

Separate the lampholder into its 3 pieces and screw the bottom section of the lampholder on to the bung's thread.

Tighten the screw inside the base of the lampholder to ensure that it is securely locked onto the bung.

Step 7

Using a pair of pliers, double over the ends of the cable.

Then take the connection unit of the lampholder and connect the Neutral (Blue), the Live (Brown) and the Earth (Green/Yellow) into the connection unit, as shown below.

Step 8

Push the connection unit into the base of the lampholder ensuring the indents align up (see first image below).

Step 9

Screw the top section of the lampholder to the base until you hear several clicks, this is the insert locking into place.

Note: If you wish to unscrew the lampholder, you will need to push down the locking barb on the insert to release the lampholder. It will then need to be bent backwards to reinstall the lampholder.

Finally, screw the 2 shade rings in place.

This now completes the installation of Kit 35.

Then take the cap of the lampholder and screw it onto the extender or onto the thread of the backplate if you have no extender.

Carefully push the connection unit into the cap of the lampholder and place the top section (the skirt) onto the lampholder, ensuring the alignment of the lampholder is correct (as shown below).

Finally, screw the lock ring and shade ring onto the lampholder.
